Gateways - Your Outbound Phone Numbers

Check out our Texting 101: What's Your Number article to learn more about the differences between gateway types.

View Your Gateways

Visit the Gateways tab to find out which Gateways are currently configured.

Contact your Account Manager if you’d like more information on the Gateways included in your plan.

Considerations for Your Gateways

Please do not modify the Webhook Identifier for any of your Gateways. Those numbers are configured with our messaging partner and modifications will cause your messages to fail.

You may modify the Name and Display Sequence for your Gateways. Simply select a Gateway Name and modify it accordingly.

Deactivating a Gateway

To stop the flow of SMS traffic into or out of your Salesforce org - check the "Inactive" checkbox on the gateway record. Checking this box will prevent any additional SMS message from being sent from or received into your org.

Application Settings

Find and modify your Global Default Gateway, choose your Contact and Lead merge fields, create Anonymous Leads, and select the Gateway Mode:

The Org-Wide Default Gateway

In Application Settings, the Default Gateway field must always be populated with a Gateway.

This Org-wide Default Gateway will be used as the outbound phone number when -Default- is selected and the record doesn’t have its Default Gateway specified.

Don’t populate Intelligent Area Code Matching (aka Intelligent Routing) as your global Default Gateway, as it’s meant for bulk messaging.

Contact and Lead Merge Fields

Populate these fields with the API-formatted name of the Standard or Custom fields you plan on using in your SMS Templates and 1:1 Conversations. Separate each field with a comma and space. For example FirstName, LastName, Favorite_Color__c, Favorite_Movie__c

Create Anonymous Leads

Checking this box ensures that if someone texts into one of your Gateways and Mogli cannot find an existing Contact or Lead for them based on their Mogli Number, their messages will be stored on a newly created Lead record called ‘Anonymous Lead from Mogli.’ The Anonymous Lead record allows you to convert the Lead into a Contact anytime.

Mogli will create an Anonymous Lead if someone texts into one of your Gateways who do not have a record associated with their Mogli Number. Therefore, it’s best practice to ensure that your recipient’s records have Mogli Numbers populated to avoid the creation of a duplicate record. Uncheck the Create Anonymous Leads checkbox to disable Anonymous Lead creation.

Anonymous Lead generation is not perfect, and you may sometimes find duplicates.

Change Your Gateway Mode to Assign Specific Gateways to Users

To restrict access to specified Gateways, you can assign users access to one or multiple Gateways. From the Mogli SMS Lightning App’s Application Settings tab, open the Default page. In the Default Gateway Mode field, click the dropdown menu and select User’s Assigned Phone Number. Save.

Assigning Users to Gateways

Navigate to the Gateways tab. Select a Gateway and click Related. Click New. Assign a user, and Save. Repeat to assign additional Gateways to the user. Note that the order in which Gateways are assigned will be the display sequence they appear in the Gateway drop-down menus when sending a message.

In User’s Assigned Phone Number mode, every Mogli user must be assigned at least ONE Gateway.

The specified users can only send messages from the Gateways assigned to them. Reverse this setting by selecting Default Gateway as the value in the Default Gateway Mode field in Application Settings. There’s no need to remove the gateway users.

ADMIN TIP: Keep in mind that assigning Gateways to particular users makes the Default Gateway option moot, as certain users may not have access to the Default Gateway.
